Yet another country that once was the heart of a huge empire. It was the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand that led to the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
But from this time comes a legacy of amazing architecture and music.
Situated in the Alps it is the home of Alpine skiing but it's summer festivals are also well worth a visit.

Vienna is now classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site thanks to the remarkably preserved architecture. Home of the Waltz and the cafe culture a visit to Vienna is not for those watching their weight. It's easy to stop for a simple cup of coffee in any of the many cafes and hard to resist the incredibly desireable cakes which they also provide.

Forever associated with Mozart, Salzburg is a town with a long history. Originally settled during Roman times the majority of the towns architecture dates from the 17th and 18th centuries. With plenty to see in it's own right, it is the Mozart connection (his birth place is still preserved) that draws the tourists. Especially during the summer when the Salzburg Fesitval takes place.

A medium-sized town of approximately 100,00 people Innsbruck is one with amazing views and a remarkable preserved history. The centre of the town still posesses it's old buildings, some up to 800 years old.
Twice the site of the Winter Olympics, Innsbruck is obviously a fantastic place for winter sports. But don't thnk that this is the only ime to visit. The spectacular setting and preserved yet active history make it a place to visit at any time of the year.
