With a long history, Germany has spent the last part of the 20th century developing an image of boring industriousness. Underneath this image however lies an interesting country full of contrasts.
Despite the image, Germany has infact given some of the great artists to the world. From classical composers through to the Cabaret of the 30s and the techno of the 90s Germanys contribution to music alone has always been at the cutting edge. This tradition continues with a veritable feast of festivals and innovations throughout the country in all arts and architecture.

Frankfurt is Germanys main business city. A centre of finance and home to the European central Bank it's skyline is suitably full of skyscrapers. The international nature of the city also means that it has a population that is over 25% non-German. This cosmopolitanism belies its reputation and infact gives it a bustling lively air.

Berlin is once again the capitol of Germany. Divided throughout the Cold war period it is famous for it's isolation as a western island in the east. With reunification it has again taken its place as one of Europes premier cities and indeed has become a hive of energy and activity. Remarkable new architecture, arts festivals and nightclubs ensure that a visit to Berlin is never boring

Lubeck is not perhaps the first place you'd think to visit. However it is a perfect place for a weekend away. Classified a World Heritage city it boasts a stunning Gothic architecture, though much of it is restored work since WW2. Just 80km from Frankfurt, Lubeck itself is full of things to do and boasts a staggering array of festivals.
As a main hub for Ryanair it is also very easily and cheaply accessible.
